Chi-Square Test for Two-Way Tables

The results of a chi-square test may be trusted when:

• no more than 20% of the expected counts are less than 5 AND


• all individual expected counts are 1 or greater.

Thus, for a 2 by 2 table, all expected counts should be 5 or greater.
